Mamma Mia is back on Australian shores and is set for another blockbuster run. The production, which hits the Lyric Theatre this week, features a re-imagined staging based on the 2017 production which has been designed by an all-Australian production team following direction from the original producer Judy Craymer. The show promises a fun night of singing, dancing and excitement as audiences are transported onto the Greek island we have all become so familiar with.
“Audiences need an escape,” said producer Louise Withers. “This will be a night of absolute escapism and joy.”
The show features an exciting all-Australian cast led by Elise McCann as Donna Sheridan, who has come full circle after playing Ali in the 10th anniversary production in 2009. Sarah Krndija stars as Donna’s daughter Sophie while Bianca Bruce and Deone Zanotto take on the roles of Rosie and Tanya respectively. From the brief preview given to media, Zanotto’s performance of “Does Your Mother Know” already seems to be a highlight.
This is one of those productions that everyone knows and loves. Having not come to Australia for 6 years, it will be very interesting to see how audiences respond to this musical once again.
Mamma Mia plays at the Lyric Theatre until 30th July. For more information click here.
